Facebook Kills Messenger Day

After what seemed like endless attempts to ape Snapchat's Stories format on Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and its flagship social network, Facebook announced today that it's killing off Messenger Day eight months after launch and merging the chat app's Stories feature with Facebook Stories. In addition, the ephemeral posts, newly rebranded as "Stories", will be made available for viewing across both Facebook and Messenger apps, thus obviating the need for posting the same story twice. "We needed to make it easier for people to share Stories across different apps," said Facebook product manager Connor Hayes about the latest development, adding "Some people actually thought these experiences were already connected. We feel like it would make sense." In other news, Facebook also took today to announce collaborative Stories for Events and Groups.
