Movie Review: Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (Malayalam)

Panchayat secretary Ulahannan is so busy leading a monotonous life, he begins to take the people around him for granted, forgetting that they even exist, instead searching for happiness elsewhere when all he had to do was rekindle what was once lost. That in short is Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, a not-quite-bad dramedy about a middle-class family man who finds himself in love with his wife all over again. There is this wonderful stretch where he (played well by Mohanlal) confesses his infidelities to Annyamma, his wife who, much to his surprise, says she too hasn't been sitting idle. And as the couple turn around their unhappy married life, they must also confront the sudden possibility that their teenage daughter may be secretly falling in love herself. What makes Munthirivallikal... an enjoyable watch is its subtle take on love despite the overly preachy stance it takes from time to time.
