Dilwale is an Arijit Singh fest, for the man (voicing Shah Rukh Khan) is the lead singer in five out of seven songs! Gerua, which opens the album, banks heavily on Tujhe Dekha To and a clutch of 90's sounds, and Janam Janam, excusing its other cliched techno version Theme of Dilwale, works better, with Arijit single-handedly lifting the mandolin-soaked romantic ballad to soaring heights. Tukur Tukur is bouncy and fun a la Chicken Song (apt for its Goan backdrop), and in Daayre, Pritam gives us the kind of lovely melodies he is known for. In contrast, the hip-hop-styled Manma Emotion Jaage and the Touch Me (Dhoom 2)-like Premika (though sung with gusto by Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor) turn out to be relatively weaker links of the soundtrack. Dilwale is the antithesis of Bajirao Mastani in all aspects, little by way of new and full on commercial.
