Heavy Rotation: Kannur Rajan, M. G. Radhakrishnan, M. Jayachandran & More

Some of my recent listens from M. G. Radhakrishnan, M. Jayachandran, Kannur Rajan and Sreevalsan J. Menon...

Oru Vela Raavinnakam (Sreevalsan J. Menon, Swapaanam) - A stunner of a classical piece delivered flawlessly by Lekha R. Nair. The kanjira, chenda and violins make for a mesmerising backdrop.

Shalabham (M. G. Radhakrishnan, Achaneyanenikkishtam) - Sung by M. G. Sreekumar and Chithra, this semi-classical fusion, along the lines of Raavanaprabhu's Ariyathe Ariyathe, makes for a lovely listen.

Rakkilithan, Kallayi Kadavathe, Chentharmizhi (M. Jayachandran, Perumazhakkalam) - Easily one of Jayachandran's best, and an arresting concoction of Carnatic and Hindustani music.

Kolakkuzhal Vili Ketto (M. Jayachandran, Nivedyam) - Vijay Yesudas and Shweta Mohan's voices are a match made in heaven.

Akale (M. Jayachandran, Akale) - The soundtrack that put Jayachandran on the music map. And my god, what a singing by Karthik.

Manikuyile (M. Jayachandran, Valkannadi) - Yesudas and Sujatha come together for a splendid semi-classical melody based on punnagavarali raga.

Mayangi Poyi (M. Jayachandran, Nottam) - Blissful and sublime, K. S. Chithra's soulful rendition lends a unique charm to the semi-classical melody.

May Masam (M. Jayachandran, Natturajavu) - A breezy, vibrant melody backed fabulously by M. G. Sreekumar and Sujatha Mohan on the vocals.

Nagumo, Swaminaatha, Eeran Megham (Kannur Rajan, Chithram) - While on the subject of evergreen classical tunes, Kannur Rajan's score for Chithram is no less stunning.
