The heartfelt lament-cum-lullaby Amma Amma has S. Janaki and Dhanush crooning it, but the song is a mishmash of Anirudh's own several compositions. Having said that, veteran singer Janaki continues to impress with her fantastic vocals and Dhanush's not so perfect rendition too lends it an authentic touch. Anirudh's laid-back singing powers the short Ey Inga Paaru even as Dhanush does his part satisfactorily in the soulful melody Poo Indru NeeyagaSmiling With the Pain makes superb use of violins and piano, and Sunrise, harmonica, while the title song rides on a grungy hard-rock base that Anirudh aces with a raspy rendition. Udhungada Sangu works well as a soft melodious kuthu, and the out and out mass number What a Karavad turns out to be a raucous dappan koothu of the highest order. Middling effort by Anirudh in Velai Illa Pattadhaari, wherein his limitations as a composer are becoming apparent.
