Movie Review: Looper

Looper
Can time travel be used to alter history? If, for example, we knew someone was likely to commit heinous acts in the future, is it okay to go back to his past, say when he was a young boy or something, and help him not to take that path in the present? Furthermore, is that a right approach to deal with such adversities? This moralistic angle is the heart and soul of Rian Johnson's Looper, a thought-provoking sci-fi action drama that promises enough cerebral bang for your buck. The film — a stunning meditation on the consequences of solving problems through violence that's dressed up a thrilling time-travel adventure — is a remarkable feat of imagination and execution, entertaining from start to finish, even as it brings a fresh, wildly inventive approach to answering difficult questions about right and wrong, and about good and evil.

  1. Good review Ravie. The cast is great, especially JGL who has been having a stellar career so far, but the plot it what really kept me interested as it continued to throw twist-after-twist at me, without any confusion whatsoever. It’s a great sci-fi flick that actually makes sense.

    1. Thanks! I agree to your view as well. As you have mentioned in your review here (http://dtmmr.com/2012/09/29/looper-2012/), character development could have been better; especially pitting the two Joe's together would have been interesting to watch. But that unfortunately doesn't happen! But on the whole, it was a very relevant movie despite all the sci-elements in it.
