Music Review: Puthiya Theerangal

Marippeelikkatte is plain gorgeous and wonderfully composed and the violins in the background are just too good! Though it appears in two separate versions sung by Madhu Balakrishnan and Hariharan, I prefer the former (Hariharan's Malayalam diction partly to be blamed for that). Vijay Yesudas and Shweta Mohan totally own the mellifluous Raaja Gopuram, with the charanam portions being a treat to listen to. The closer Sindhoora Pottumthottu, once again sung by Madhu Balakrishnan, is just about adequate andvery much evocative of his previous offerings in the language. Puthiya Theerangal proves yet again that Sathyan Anthikkad-Ilaiyaraaja combo can never go wrong!
