Music Review: Gangs of Wasseypur II

After an imaginative soundtrack in the first installment, Sneha Khanwalkar continues her impressive run in the yet to be released sequel. Chi Chha Ledar, with stupendous singing by Durga, is a mind-blowingly superb techno track. Kaala Rey is mesmerizing and Sneha Khanwalkar's vocals and composition deserve special plaudits. Electric Piya (Rasika D Rani), Bahut Khoob (Kids of Musahar Village), Taar Bijli (Padmashree Sharda Sinha) are high on innovativeness and have a medley of sounds, though they work in moderation.

Piyush Mishra (who was a guest composer in the previous part) and Bhupesh Singh deliver an interesting mix of genres and sounds in Aabroo, while Perpendicular (Theme) is a wonderful showcase of funky music. Moora (Sneha Khanwalkar, Robbie Styles) makes for a wonderful, yet pleasant, listen and its variant Moora-Morning, sung by Deepak Kumar, is even better. But Tunya (Bulbultarang with Baal Party), Bahut Khoob 8 Bit (Kids of Musahar Village) and Electric Piya-Fused (Rasika D Rani) seem to be an overkill and pointless to a large extent. The last track, KKL - short for Keh Ke Lunga, is an upbeat version of the original and the orchestration is splendid and edgy. A brilliant potpourri this!
