Listen: A. R. Rahman's "Saarattu Vandiyila" (Tamil)

As far as hooky earworms go, nothing can beat Saarattu Vandiyila. An ecstatic folky melody sung by A. R. Reihana, Tippu and Nikhita Gandhi, it's a north-meets-south Indian fusion that brings together a myriad of musical elements in a fashion that can only be summed up as mesmerising. This song, right here, is utter perfection, with composer A. R. Rahman weaving together a gorgeous collision of traditional instrumentation, with an extended outro marked by a zingy sprinkle of santoor, mandolin, flute, coruscating riffs, and a handclapped groove for an extra melodic punch. And roping in Tippu and Reihana to do the vocal honours may have been possibly the best thing that could have happened to it. Listen below and immerse yourself in bliss -
