Hearing S. P. Balasubrahmanyam sing Enda Ippadi is a trip down memory lane. The tune is classic Ilaiyaraaja fare but the interlaced rap bits, although quirky, doesn't quite cut it. Its melancholic variant Or Naal Kaadhal sung by Sathyaprakash is heart-meltingly lilting, as is its stunning instrumental version The One. Nivas channels the maestro yet again in the gorgeous whispery melody Nee Indri and the lovely motivational number Maatrangal Ondre Dhaan, the latter of which gets its own instrumental version The Happiness of Pursuit, while Haricharan-sung Innum Enna Solla embellishes his Sethupathi hit Konji Pesida Venaam to ear-pleasing effect. Nivas K. Prasanna ends the year on a splendorous high with Kootathil Oruthan.
