Google Play Newsstand Gets a Web Version

Play Newsstand for web is here!

Google may have shuttered its beloved RSS Reader in July 2013, but almost three-and-a-half years later, it's making a comeback of sorts in the form of Google Play Newsstand. Newsstand is not new. It was launched months after Google Reader's demise as a merger of Play Magazines and Google Currents. What's different now is that Newsstand has a web version. The end result being two different news offerings from Google - Google News and Google Play Newsstand (excluding Google AMP here, but maybe Play Newsstand and AMP can be integrated?*). Which is classic Google strategy - make two of everything. That said, will Google release Allo and Duo chat apps for the web next?

*Update: It does appear to be integrated with regards to viewing multimedia content. More on this here.
