Heavy Rotation: Leon Vynehall, Moses Sumney, Tim Hecker & More

Yeasayer's Amen & Goodbye releases, and Kanye West's new album The Life of Pablo arrives on all major music streaming services...

Try / Effortless (dvsn) - If Abel Tesfaye and Drake collaborated, this is what it would sound like, I am guessing!

Blush, Butterflies (Leon Vynehall) - The one thought that comes to my mind after listening to Leon Vynehall's lushly arranged orchestral splendour Blush is bliss!

Everlasting Sigh (Moses Sumney) - Soulful is the word! And that choral crescendo, just wow!

Cecile, Priestess (Pumarosa) - London-based quintet Pumarosa's arresting and chaotic singles dip their toes in a sonic terrain that blends elements of rhythmic dance-pop and rock. Interesting fusion, I must admit!

Black Phase (Tim Hecker) - When I heard Castrati Stack weeks ago, I was struck by its very atmospherics, so dreamy and haunting amidst all that controlled electronic distortion, that it felt as if I was losing touch with reality. His new single Black Phase is no different and once again makes use of Icelandic Choir Ensemble to hypnotic effect.

Low Hymnal (Told Slant) - A simple but delectable guitary melody, and a beautiful one at that.

Touch of Grey (The War on Drugs, Grateful Dead cover) - Grateful Dead's breezy, hazy and synthy cover of War on Drugs' Touch of Grey.

Internal Exile (Wire) - After the propulsive and thrilling Nocturnal Koreans comes a contrasting slow-burning melody from the British punk-rock band Wire.

INTERMISSION: fLoWer, iT's YoU, sHe, rEaR vIeW (ZAYN) - Zayn Malik's next direction, much like Rihanna's ANTI, is mostly directionless and scattershot, and that's okay. And while most of his songs are downbeat, muted and Disclosure/Weeknd-like, Zayn unexpectedly showcases his roots in the beautifully affecting Urdu song titled INTERMISSION: fLoWer.
