Heavy Rotation: Grimes, Matt Kivel, yOya & More

Janus and Echoes top my list of favourites this week...

Dadaday (Annie) - Cara Mia, WorkX2, Out of Reach and now Dadaday, Annie for sure knows how to hook you into her addictive eurodance tunes. Dadaday treads into Edward Maya territory (remember Stereo Love?) for sure but is nevertheless groovy and slinky!

Focus (Ariana Grande) - Focus bears an uncanny structural resemblance to her breakout hit Problem, but whatever be the case, the music video seems to be more like an ad for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 smartphone. Did they get the idea from Drake's Hotline Bling video that featured an iPhone on each of his hand? Awkward.

De La Luz (Fakear aka Théo Le Vigoureux) - Irresistibly catchy synth-filled instrumental!

Flesh Without Blood (Grimes aka Claire Boucher) - An out and out feverishly frenzied electronic fiesta from the Canadian singer, with the song's escalating tempo making it all the more punchy.

Shook (Lord RAJA aka Chester Raj Anand) - This doozy instrumental is further proof of what happens when electronic music intertwines with psychedelia.

Janus (Matt Kivel) - Lilting and soulful, Janus is one of the most ethereal (folk) songs I've heard in a while.

How I Feel About You (PWRHAUS) - A soft, slow-burner of a song, composed beautifully in retro fashion.

Slur (Rain) - An interesting blend of grunge rock and dream pop music, and can you believe this is their debut single?

Hollow Sound of the Morning Chimes (TOPS) - Close on the heels of Anything comes yet another jazzy, smooth single from the Canadian indie rock outfit TOPS.

Echoes (yOya) - Riding on a thrumming percussion and interlocking guitar riffs, Echoes is gentle, and just about a perfect laid-back listen.

Sea of Dreams (Oberhofer) - An affecting, reflective piano ballad from Brooklyn-based four piece Oberhofer that shows off their dreamier side.
