Heavy Rotation: G. V. Prakash Kumar, Ramesh Vinayakam, Santhosh Narayanan & More

I am hooked to Santhosh Narayanan's Naan Nee, again!

Enna Idhu Enna Idhu (Ramesh Vinayakam, Nala Damayanthi) - One of the best melodies from Ramesh Vinayakam, so ethereal and harmonious.

Akkam Pakkam (G. V. Prakash Kumar, Kireedam) - Ear-pleasing and luscious, G. V. Prakash ropes in a sweet-sounding Sadhana Sargam to croon this lovely tune.

Poovinai, Kana Kaangiren (G. V. Prakash Kumar, Ananda Thandavam) - Poovinai's gossamer-like melody gets a fitting company in Srinivas and Shreya Ghoshal, while Nithyasree Mahadevan, Shuba Mudgal and Vinitra effortlessly prove their virtuoso in Kana Kaangiren, a thoroughly infectious wedding-themed classical composition!

Minnalgal Koothadum (G. V. Prakash Kumar, Polladhavan) - Bombay Jayashri's voice is so unique, it fits these songs to a T. I cannot imagine any other singer singing them.

Urugudhe Maragudhe (Veyil), Chaaral (Kuselan), Unn Perai Sollum (Angadi Theru) (G. V. Prakash Kumar) - Shreya Ghoshal's voice is just the right fit for the beautiful melodies.

Vizhiyil Un Vizhiyil (Kireedam), Sollamma (Kuselan), Pookal Pookum (Madrasapattinam), Yathe Yathe, Ayyayo (Aadukalam), Pemmane, Thaai Thindra Mannae (Aayirathil Oruvan), Eppo Nee (Kaalai) (G. V. Prakash Kumar) - Assorted melodies from G. V. Prakash, so pleasant and mesmerising.

Box (Pandora) Theme (K, Yuddham Sei) - From Krishna Kumar (aka K), a brilliant instrumental marked by stupendous use of violins.

Oru Murai (Uyir Mozhi), Boomyil (Pizza II: Villa), Manasula Soora Kathey (Cuckoo), Naan Nee (Madras) (Santhosh Narayanan) - The four Santhosh Narayanan compositions that I've fallen in love with, all over again! Heavenly!

Velicha Poove (Ethir Neechal), Osaka Osaka (Vanakkam Chennai) (Anirudh Ravichander) - Anirudh Ravichander couldn't have asked for a better debut. After the viral craze that was Kolaveri, he managed to turn in some engaging soundtracks with Ethir Neechal and Vanakkam Chennai. That was about the time, I began to write him off as well, considering how he had begun to churn and rehash his own numbers over and over, until Naanum Rowdy Dhaan recently happened. The folksy Osaka Osaka and the splendorous Velicha Poove still remain my favourites however.

Nakka Mukka (Vijay Antony, Kadhalil Vizhunthen) - A frenzied kuthu like no other that erupts into a climax of glittering euphoria. I am yet to encounter another song that matches Nakka Mukka's sonic buoyancy!

Suppose (Sukran), Dailamo Dailamo, Nenjangootil (Dishyum), Karigalan (Vettaikaaran), Aen Enakku Mayakkam (Naan Avanillai) (Vijay Antony) - Ebullient and instantly catchy, Suppose and Dailamo are a riot bolstered by foot-tapping rhythms and peppy vocals.

Naanthana Naanthana (Ninaithale), Poovin Madiyil, Azhaga Azhaga (Iruvar Mattum) (Vijay Antony) - Vijay Antony layers Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam's vocals against tasteful orchestration to produce some of the most euphonious melodies.

Kangal Irandal (Subramaniapuram), Naan Pogiren (Naanayam), Oru Vetkam Varudhe (Pasanga) (James Vasanthan) - James Vasanthan captured eyeballs with the reethigowlai-based semi-classical melody Kangal Irandal, and Naan Pogiren is no different. Heart-melting and gorgeously tuned, the dulcet romantic duet rocks, thanks to a wonderful vocal chemistry between S.P.B. and Chithra.

Minnal Oru Kodi (Ranjit Barot, V.I.P) - The arrangements are right up in Ranjit's alley, given the master drummer he is, and the song is magnificently splendorous, not to mention Hariharan and Chithra's fabulous vocals.
