After Munni, Sheila and many others, now it's the turn of Basanti! Sachin-Jigar's Dance Basanti is dance club-friendly but begins to get tiresome after a couple of listens. (What's with the lyrics, Gori tera thumka bada kinky kinky type da, seriously?) Vishal Dadlani is in great form however! Pakeezah, composed by Gulraj Singh, is simple and has a sing-along'ish feel to it, and Adarniya Ungli is raucous EDM theme material, respectfully showing a middle finger to the corrupt system. The musical duo of Salim and Sulaiman come up with a pleasant guitary melody in Auliya, even as Aslam Keyi's formulaic Punjabi dance number Ungli Pe Nachalein rounds off the album. Ungli is altogether pedestrian, the derivative tailor-made for dance floor songs spoiling an otherwise decent musical outing.
