Music Review: Dedh Ishqiya (Hindi)

Composer(s): Vishal Bhardwaj
Film: Dedh Ishqiya

Dil Ka Mizaaj Ishqiya, on the lines of Bhardwaj's Khamakha in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, is sheer musical bliss and in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's serene voice, the song makes for an arresting listen. Rahat's other offering Zabaan Jale Hai, with its ghazal flourishes, is soulful and more notable is the beauty of its guitary arrangements. Bhardwaj's better half croons the modern mujra Hamari Atariya well, and she sounds all the more fabulous in Jagaave Saari Raina, a splendid hindustani semi-classical accompanied by Pandit Birju Maharaj. The qawwali Kya Hoga is enchanting and is nicely supported by Jazim Sharma, Master Saleem, Shahid Maliya and Jamal Akbar on the vocals. Yo Yo Honey Singh is refreshing in Horn OK Please, and with Sukhwinder Singh to give company, the song cannot get any more exuberant! Vishal Bhardwaj delivers the goods with Dedh Ishqiya, as always.
