Music Review: Vinmeengal

Another month, another amazing soundtrack. Jubin's debut in Vignesh Menon's Vinmeengal is definitely praise-worthy and immensely listenable. Un Paarvai is a superb western Carnatic and the singers, Hariharan and Harini, sound lovely. Vazhi Maari (Ajeesh) is a short and sweet composition and makes commendable use of piano and guitar. An inspirational track, Nee Kaatil, is quite innovative and Shankar Mahadevan infuses a zealous energy to it. The chorus by the kids too complement the song very well.

Bhoomi Engum works fantastically, thanks to its wonderful arrangements and Belly Raj's (of Kangal Irandal fame) expressive vocals. Ariya Paruvathil is a must-listen and is absolutely melodious, while Bombay Jayashri and Rahul Nambiar do their parts well. Rendered brilliantly by Ajeesh and Karthika, the violin soaked Kadhalum, is melancholic and at times a little carol'ish due to the chorus but nevertheless makes one sway to the beautiful slow-flowing tune. Jubin is surely aiming for the stars with Vinmeengal! Great effort!
